IE Code Registration

An IEC is a PAN-based number allotted to a person or entity that is mandatory for undertaking any export/import activities. An import export code is a unique 10-digit code for companies and businesses that deals with import-export. The code is issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Ministry of Commerce in India. In India no one can operate as an importer/exporter without getting the IEC.

The IEC code is a pan-based registration certificate, it is required by importers to clear customs and shipment, and to transfer money to foreign banks.

It is a one-time registration process to obtain a license that can be utilized by the company and no need for any renewal. The organization can expand its trading activity abroad with no issues at the time of getting IEC.

    Process & Timeline for IEC Code

    The IE Code Application is filed online with Class -2 Digital Signature. It is required to have a valid DSC of the applicant or the Authorised Signatory

    Once the required documents are ready, the applicant shall prepare the profile of the business entity on DGFT for Import Export Code (IEC).
     

    Application Of IE Code is filed online with DSC, by furnishing information and mandatory self-attested documents.

    After successful submission of IEC, the applicant  shall receive an IEC Number and a Certificate of Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) from DGFT. Finally, the IE Code is allotted.
